Flame and Induction Straightening Seminar in Your Language

One day of fundamentals with live practical demonstrations from Germany

How does welding distortion develop? How do clamping systems influence it? And how can distorted components be straightened using flame or induction heating?

In this one-day seminar, I demonstrate the fundamentals live on real components. I explain each step, carry it out and show its effect. The aim is to help your participants understand what happens in the component and what matters when straightening it.

You bring your employees or customers together at your location. I broadcast the demonstrations from my workshop in Germany. A professional interpreter joins online to translate my explanations into your language and your participants’ questions into German.

What Your Participants Will Learn

Through practical demonstrations, I explain:

  • Welding distortion: How it develops and affects a component.
  • Clamping and pre-setting: How restraints and deliberate positioning before welding influence distortion.
  • Restrained thermal expansion: Why controlled heating can produce a permanent change in shape.
  • Flame straightening: Heating patterns, torch selection, flame adjustment and temperature control.
  • Induction straightening: Controlled heat application and differences from flame straightening.
  • Assessing the result: How to recognise the effect of a straightening operation.

Participants see what I do, why I do it and how the component changes.

How the Live Seminar Works

I work on prepared components in my workshop. Three cameras show the complete setup and close views of the important details. A technician manages the broadcast and selects the appropriate camera view while I demonstrate and explain.

I speak in short sections and pause for interpretation. Participants can ask questions and discuss the demonstrated steps with me.

At your location, you need:

  • a suitable room
  • a large screen or suitable projection system
  • speakers and a microphone for questions
  • a reliable internet connection

We test the picture, sound and connection together before the seminar.

Why Broadcast from My Workshop?

My demonstration setup includes approximately 3.5 tonnes of equipment. Bringing it to your location would require travel by car and trailer. Transport, travel time, setup and dismantling add to the cost.

If I fly instead, you need to provide the required components, tools and clamping equipment at your location. The interpreting equipment also needs to be arranged, installed and tested. This involves considerable additional work and expense.

Broadcasting from my workshop gives your participants access to my prepared demonstration setup.

Would you prefer an on-site seminar? This is also possible. We agree in advance on the equipment available at your location and the interpreting arrangements. Travel, transport and setup are quoted separately.

For Your Team or as a Customer Event

Companies can book the seminar for their employees, production managers and welding coordinators.

Dealers can invite customers to an event at their premises and set their own participation fee. This brings customers into your business and creates an opportunity to discuss welding distortion, straightening methods and clamping technology.

Participation fees can cover some or all of your event costs. You decide how to organise and promote the event.

Your Instructor

Ottmar Obenhin – FIMANO-AWT

International Welding Specialist (IWS) and welding instructor, with 30 years of experience in application engineering at Linde.

I explain the principles directly on the component: from the causes of distortion to the choice of a suitable method and its visible effect.

Price and Enquiry

The indicative price for a one-day live seminar broadcast from my workshop, including a professional interpreter, is approximately €5,000.

This is the price for the whole event, not per participant.

Tell me your country, preferred language and estimated number of participants. We will then agree on the date, content and schedule, and you will receive a firm quotation.

Your preferred language is subject to the availability of a suitable interpreter. Seminar hours, breaks, applicable taxes and the final price will be specified in the quotation. Local event costs are not included. This introductory seminar teaches the fundamentals through live demonstrations; participants do not carry out their own practical exercises.
